North Eastern Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Scottsdale

The North Eastern Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, located in Cameron Street, Scottsdale includes a 19 bed sub-acute ward which caters for medical, accident and emergency, and aged care clients and a 29 bed residential aged care facility (James Scott Wing). The NESMH provides antenatal care, clinics, classes and extended midwifery services. The hospital also has a Day Centre and provides Community nursing services for the region, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and medical imaging services.

Other health services that are provided include mental health, social work and primary healthcare. The town’s General Practice service and Ambulance service, (provided by Ambulance Tasmania and volunteers) are based nearby. Students that come to Scottsdale have a broad range of learning opportunities and can maximise their learning in a relaxed and supportive learning environment.

Accommodation is available for students undertaking placement at Scottsdale at the Rural Health Teaching Site next to the NESM Hospital; a short walk to local shops and services. It provides comfortable hostel type accommodation for up to 11 students and has a study/computer room on-site.
