Network Functions

 

The TCEN will provide a mechanism to coordinate and facilitate undergraduate and professional entry clinical placements from a range of higher education providers to health service (public and private) providers and the non-government private sector within Tasmania.
Functions of the TCEN include:

  • Promoting access to clinical training placement opportunities;
  • Facilitating systematic reporting of clinical training key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Building relationships and collaborations between education and clinical training providers, including sourcing new clinical placement settings and opportunities;
  • Facilitating forward planning and deployment of training requirements and placement opportunities;
  • Matching supply and demand for placements and recommending distribution accordingly;
  • Supporting education and service providers in the management of clinical placements; and
  • Supporting and engaging with education and clinical training providers on the key national workforce reform issues consistent with the National Partnership Agreement on Hospital and Health Workforce Reform.

Operating Principles

The TCEN will operate together within the following principles:

  • Build on and develops functional relationships, partnerships and mechanisms to support clinical training activity in Tasmania;
  • Be inclusive and reflective of all government, non-government and private organisations delivering clinical training within Tasmania, as well as undergratduate, professional entry and VET sector education providers wishing to place students in Tasmania;
  • Be adaptable to accommodate professional entry, post graduate, vocational and speciality training pathways; and
  • Will work together collaboratively to achieve results.
